…truction" This reverts most of commit fef7f2b. It turns out that there are a couple of problems with the way we're fixing up branch instructions used as part of alternative instruction sequences: (1) If the branch target is also in the alternative sequence, we'll generate a branch into the .altinstructions section which actually gets freed. (2) The calls to aarch64_insn_{read,write} bring an awful lot more code into the patching path (e.g. taking locks, poking the fixmap, invalidating the TLB) which isn't actually needed for the early patching run under stop_machine, but makes the use of alternative sequences extremely fragile (as we can't patch code that could be used by the patching code). Given that no code actually requires alternative patching of immediate branches, let's remove this support for now and revisit it when we've got a user. We leave the updated size check, since we really do require the sequences to be the same length. Acked-by: Marc Zyngier <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Will Deacon <[email protected]>

Since acpi_reserve_resources() is defined as a device_initcall(), there's no guarantee that it will be executed in the right order with respect to the rest of the ACPI initialization code. On some systems this leads to breakage if, for example, the address range that should be reserved for the ACPI fixed registers is given to the PCI host bridge instead if the race is won by the wrong code path. Fix this by turning acpi_reserve_resources() into a void function and calling it directly from within the ACPI initialization sequence. Consider "(u64)insn1.imm << 32 | imm" in the arm64 JIT. Since imm is signed 32-bit, it is sign-extended to 64-bit, losing the high 32 bits. The fix is to convert imm to u32 first, which will be zero-extended to u64 implicitly. This patch fixes a timing issue that causes a GPU hang when the system comes out of power saving. During pm_resume, We are submitting batchbuffers before enabling Interrupts this is causing us to miss the context switch interrupt, and in consequence intel_execlists_handle_ctx_events is not triggered. This patch is based on a patch from Deepak S <[email protected]> from another platform. The patch fixes an issue introduced by: commit e7778be drm/i915: Fix startup failure in LRC mode after recent init changes The above patch added a call to init_context() to fix an issue introduced by a previous patch. But, it then opened up a small timing window for the batches being added by the init_context (basically setting up the context) to complete before the interrupts have been turned on, thus hanging the GPU. Commit d795ef9 ("arm64: perf: don't warn about missing interrupt-affinity property for PPIs") added a check for PPIs so that we avoid parsing the interrupt-affinity property for these naturally affine interrupts. Unfortunately, this check can trigger an early (successful) return and we will leak the irqs array. This patch fixes the issue by reordering the code so that the check is performed before any independent allocation. The trailing .x adds no information for the reader, and if anyone tries to parse that line, this is more work as they have 3 different formats to handle instead of 2. In function dmi_present(), dmi_walk_early() calls dmi_table(), which calls dmi_decode(), which ultimately calls dmi_save_uuid(). This last function makes a decision based on the value of global variable dmi_ver. The problem is that this variable is set right _after_ dmi_walk_early() returns. So dmi_save_uuid() always sees dmi_ver == 0 regardless of the actual version implemented. This causes /sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid to always use the old ordering even on systems implementing DMI/SMBIOS 2.6 or later, which should use the new ordering. This is broken since kernel v3.8 for legacy DMI implementations and since kernel v3.10 for SMBIOS 2 implementations. SMBIOS 3 implementations with the 64-bit entry point are not affected. The first breakage does not matter much as in practice legacy DMI implementations are always for versions older than 2.6, which is when the UUID ordering changed. The second breakage is more problematic as it affects the vast majority of x86 systems manufactured since 2009. Not all kmem allocations should be accounted to memcg. The following patch gives an example when accounting of a certain type of allocations to memcg can effectively result in a memory leak. This patch adds the __GFP_NOACCOUNT flag which if passed to kmalloc and friends will force the allocation to go through the root cgroup. It will be used by the next patch. Note, since in case of kmemleak enabled each kmalloc implies yet another allocation from the kmemleak_object cache, we add __GFP_NOACCOUNT to gfp_kmemleak_mask. Alternatively, we could introduce a per kmem cache flag disabling accounting for all allocations of a particular kind, but (a) we would not be able to bypass accounting for kmalloc then and (b) a kmem cache with this flag set could not be merged with a kmem cache without this flag, which would increase the number of global caches and therefore fragmentation even if the memory cgroup controller is not used. Despite its generic name, currently __GFP_NOACCOUNT disables accounting only for kmem allocations while user page allocations are always charged. To catch abusing of this flag, a warning is issued on an attempt of passing it to mem_cgroup_try_charge. root->ino_ida is used for kernfs inode number allocations. Since IDA has a layered structure, different IDs can reside on the same layer, which is currently accounted to some memory cgroup. The problem is that each kmem cache of a memory cgroup has its own directory on sysfs (under /sys/fs/kernel/<cache-name>/cgroup). If the inode number of such a directory or any file in it gets allocated from a layer accounted to the cgroup which the cache is created for, the cgroup will get pinned for good, because one has to free all kmem allocations accounted to a cgroup in order to release it and destroy all its kmem caches. That said we must not account layers of ino_ida to any memory cgroup. Since per net init operations may create new sysfs entries directly (e.g. lo device) or indirectly (nf_conntrack creates a new kmem cache per each namespace, which, in turn, creates new sysfs entries), an easy way to reproduce this issue is by creating network namespace(s) from inside a kmem-active memory cgroup. {u,g}id_valid call {u,g}id_eq, which calls __k{u,g}id_val on both arguments and compares. With !CONFIG_MULTIUSER, __k{u,g}id_val return a constant 0, which makes {u,g}id_valid always return false. Change {u,g}id_valid to compare their argument against -1 instead. That produces identical results in the normal CONFIG_MULTIUSER=y case, but with !CONFIG_MULTIUSER will make {u,g}id_valid constant-fold into "return true;" rather than "return false;". This fixes uses of devpts without CONFIG_MULTIUSER. When raid56 dev-replace is cancelled by running scrub, we will free target device without waiting for in-flight bios, causing the following NULL pointer deference or general protection failure. BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000000000005e0 IP: generic_make_request_checks+0x4d/0x610 CPU: 1 PID: 11676 Comm: kworker/u4:14 Tainted: G O 4.11.0-rc2 #72 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), BIOS 1.10.2-20170228_101828-anatol 04/01/2014 Workqueue: btrfs-endio-raid56 btrfs_endio_raid56_helper [btrfs] task: ffff88002875b4c0 task.stack: ffffc90001334000 RIP: 0010:generic_make_request_checks+0x4d/0x610 Call Trace: ? generic_make_request+0xc7/0x360 generic_make_request+0x24/0x360 ? generic_make_request+0xc7/0x360 submit_bio+0x64/0x120 ? page_in_rbio+0x4d/0x80 [btrfs] ? rbio_orig_end_io+0x80/0x80 [btrfs] finish_rmw+0x3f4/0x540 [btrfs] validate_rbio_for_rmw+0x36/0x40 [btrfs] raid_rmw_end_io+0x7a/0x90 [btrfs] bio_endio+0x56/0x60 end_workqueue_fn+0x3c/0x40 [btrfs] btrfs_scrubparity_helper+0xef/0x620 [btrfs] btrfs_endio_raid56_helper+0xe/0x10 [btrfs] process_one_work+0x2af/0x720 ? process_one_work+0x22b/0x720 worker_thread+0x4b/0x4f0 kthread+0x10f/0x150 ? process_one_work+0x720/0x720 ? kthread_create_on_node+0x40/0x40 ret_from_fork+0x2e/0x40 RIP: generic_make_request_checks+0x4d/0x610 RSP: ffffc90001337bb8 In btrfs_dev_replace_finishing(), we will call btrfs_rm_dev_replace_blocked() to wait bios before destroying the target device when scrub is finished normally. However when dev-replace is aborted, either due to error or cancelled by scrub, we didn't wait for bios, this can lead to use-after-free if there are bios holding the target device. Furthermore, for raid56 scrub, at least 2 places are calling btrfs_map_sblock() without protection of bio_counter, leading to the problem. This patch fixes the problem: 1) Wait for bio_counter before freeing target device when canceling replace 2) When calling btrfs_map_sblock() for raid56, use bio_counter to protect the call. kvmppc_gpa_to_ua() accesses KVM memory slot array via srcu_dereference_check() and this produces warnings from RCU like below. This extends the existing srcu_read_lock/unlock to cover that kvmppc_gpa_to_ua() as well. We did not hit this before as this lock is not needed for the realmode handlers and hash guests would use the realmode path all the time; however the radix guests are always redirected to the virtual mode handlers and hence the warning. After a discussion we (me and Boris Brezillon) start to suspect that this bit does not immediately control the chip select line at all, it rather enables access to the bank and the hardware will drive the CS autonomously. If there is a NAND chip connected, we should keep this enabled. As fsmc_nand_setup() sets this bit, we can simply remove the offending code.
