Summary of Research

Question

1. What were mentors experiences during the internship?
2. To what extent did mentors perceptions change over the course of the internship?

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to understand:

1. Mentors’ perceptions of the effectiveness of the internship.
2. Perceived challenges or barriers they faced as a mentor.
3. Changes in their perceptions of themselves as an effective mentor.

Methods

Survey: scaled and open-ended items

Current Status

• Due to a small sample size, this research was not conducted during TWE 2022.
• To obtain some quantitative data, some of the questions from the survey were included in the interviews instead.

• Survey questions need to be created using a Google form.
• There was a stripped-down public-facing version of the Research Plan created (see link below). However, there needs to be a more thorough Research Plan created that will be used internally for TWE volunteers.
