All new installs were failing, and it was due to this problem:
PlayForm/Compress#163
Looks like the author of
astro-compresswanted to quit OSS, so deleted their NPM, but didn't transfer ownership, and as a result the package was deleted from the registry. (I didn't know this could happen! 😱)It has since been transferred and re-released. They'll also migrate the repo over to the official Astro repo soon.
Updating to the latest version of the package resolved this
