Timed events have an additional feature, which is Lane Assignments.

Nationals-style

At the North American Unicycling Convention and Competition, the following generally takes place:

  • Competitors Sign up for the 100m race
  • Competitors show up at the track for race day
  • Competitors are called to the Starting-area by age group ** Some of the Competitors who signed up don't show up ** Some competitors who didn't sign up DO show up

For this reason, at the Start area, there is a set of volunteers who assign each competitor a Heat and Lane.

This Heat and Lane information is critical to process the data from the photo-finish system (which only has Heat+Lane information).

UNICON-style

At UNICON Conventions, the following generally takes place:

  • Competitors Sign up for the 100m race
  • Competitors are assigned Heat + Lane
  • Start Lists are created and posted in advance of the competition
  • Competitors show up at the track for race day
  • Competitors are called to the Starting are by Heat # ** Some of the Competitors who signed up don't show up ** Any Competitor who did not sign up is not allowed to compete

Note: Currently, there is no facility to assign/import Heat/Lane assignments in bulk.

Note: Currently, there is no facility to print the Heat/Lane Assignments for public consumption

(These 2 features are on the list for UNICON 2014)
