Addressing people in various contexts

Human beings appear in two main roles:

  • as agents in collecting and researching skeletal remains
  • as specimens in skeletal collections

Addressing people as persons makes sense if their identity, or at least some information from their life context, is known. Both PROV-O and FOAF have classes named 'Person' as subclasses of 'Agent'. Though class hierarchies differ, it is appropriate to understand these as equivalent classes. The FOAF classes are also implemented in the Organization Ontology and the VIVO Ontology.
