Hello, with the last compression to try fix the compression:
arch/arm/mach-bcm2708/include/mach/uncompress.h:61 error: UART0_CLOCK underclared

@keylevel

You need to apply the patch at bootc@bff06d1 as well.

With this in, it looks as if compressed kernels are now working again.

Apologies. I missed a bit. Please try again.

Thanks to Johannes for pointing to truncation: free_swap_and_cache()
only does a trylock on the page, so the page lock we've held since
before confirming swap is not enough to protect against truncation.

What cleanup is needed in this case? Just delete_from_swap_cache(),
which takes care of the memcg uncharge.

It's not a missing annotation. It's simply wrong code and needs to be

acquire only the remote cpu lock, which is sufficient protection for
this procedure.

Quit from splice_write if pipe->nrbufs is 0 for avoiding oops in virtio-serial.

When an application was doing splice from a kernel buffer to virtio-serial on
a guest, the application received signal(SIGINT). This situation will normally
happen, but the kernel executed a kernel panic by oops as follows:

It seems to induce pagefault in sg_init_tabel() when pipe->nrbufs is equal to
zero. This may happen in a following situation:

(1) The application normally does splice(read) from a kernel buffer, then does
    splice(write) to virtio-serial.
(2) The application receives SIGINT when is doing splice(read), so splice(read)
is failed by EINTR. However, the application does not finish the operation.
(3) The application tries to do splice(write) without pipe->nrbufs.
(4) The virtio-console driver tries to touch scatterlist structure sgl in
sg_init_table(), but the region is out of bound.

To avoid the case, a kernel should check whether pipe->nrbufs is empty or not
when splice_write is executed in the virtio-console driver.

The issue is that test_and_set_bit() done on adapter->state is being
performed *after* the netdevice has been freed via free_netdev().

When netdev is being allocated on initialization time, it allocates
a private area, here struct ixgbe_adapter, that resides after the
net_device structure. In ixgbe_probe(), the device init routine,
we set up the adapter after alloc_etherdev_mq() on the private area
and add a reference for the pci_dev as well via pci_set_drvdata().

Both in the error path of ixgbe_probe(), but also on module unload
when ixgbe_remove() is being called, commit 41c6284 ("ixgbe:
Fix rcu warnings induced by LER") accesses adapter after free_netdev().
The patch stores the result in a bool and thus fixes above oops on my
side.

This fixes a bug which results in stale vcore pointers being left in
the per-cpu preempted vcore lists when a VM is destroyed. The result
of the stale vcore pointers is usually either a crash or a lockup
inside collect_piggybacks() when another VM is run. A typical
lockup message looks like:

The bug is that kvmppc_run_vcpu does not correctly handle the case
where a vcpu task receives a signal while its guest vcpu is executing
in the guest as a result of being piggy-backed onto the execution of
another vcore. In that case we need to wait for the vcpu to finish
executing inside the guest, and then remove this vcore from the
preempted vcores list. That way, we avoid leaving this vcpu's vcore
on the preempted vcores list when the vcpu gets interrupted.

If a user key gets negatively instantiated, an error code is cached in the
payload area. A negatively instantiated key may be then be positively
instantiated by updating it with valid data. However, the ->update key
type method must be aware that the error code may be there.

The following may be used to trigger the bug in the user key type:

    keyctl request2 user user "" @U
keyctl add user user "a" @U

which manifests itself as:

Note the error code (-ENOKEY) in EDX.

A similar bug can be tripped by:

    keyctl request2 trusted user "" @U
keyctl add trusted user "a" @U

This should also affect encrypted keys - but that has to be correctly
parameterised or it will fail with EINVAL before getting to the bit that
will crashes.

Asynchronous wb switching of inodes takes an additional ref count on an
inode to make sure inode remains valid until switchover is completed.

However, anyone calling ihold() must already have a ref count on inode,
but in this case inode->i_count may already be zero:

The reason is that kvm_put_kvm is causing the destruction of the VM, but
the page fault is still on the ->queue list. The ->queue list is owned
by the VCPU, not by the work items, so we cannot just add list_del to
the work item.

Instead, use work->vcpu to note async page faults that have been resolved
and will be processed through the done list. There is no need to flush
those.

Cluster xAPIC delivery incorrectly assumed that dest_id <= 0xff.
With enabled KVM_X2APIC_API_USE_32BIT_IDS in KVM_CAP_X2APIC_API, a
userspace can send an interrupt with dest_id that results in
out-of-bounds access.

em_jmp_far and em_ret_far assumed that setting IP can only fail in 64
bit mode, but syzkaller proved otherwise (and SDM agrees).
Code segment was restored upon failure, but it was left uninitialized
outside of long mode, which could lead to a leak of host kernel stack.
We could have fixed that by always saving and restoring the CS, but we
take a simpler approach and just break any guest that manages to fail
as the error recovery is error-prone and modern CPUs don't need emulator
for this.

syzbot reported yet another crash [1] that is caused by
insufficient validation of DODGY packets.

Two bugs are happening here to trigger the crash.

1) Flow dissection leaves with incorrect thoff field.

2) skb_probe_transport_header() sets transport header to this invalid
thoff, even if pointing after skb valid data.

3) qdisc_pkt_len_init() reads out-of-bound data because it
trusts tcp_hdrlen(skb)

Possible fixes :

- Full flow dissector validation before injecting bad DODGY packets in
the stack.
This approach was attempted here : https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/
861874/

- Have more robust functions in the core.
This might be needed anyway for stable versions.

This patch fixes the flow dissection issue.

[ Upstream commit d0c081b ]

syzbot reported yet another crash [1] that is caused by
insufficient validation of DODGY packets.

Two bugs are happening here to trigger the crash.

1) Flow dissection leaves with incorrect thoff field.

2) skb_probe_transport_header() sets transport header to this invalid
thoff, even if pointing after skb valid data.

3) qdisc_pkt_len_init() reads out-of-bound data because it
trusts tcp_hdrlen(skb)

Possible fixes :

- Full flow dissector validation before injecting bad DODGY packets in
the stack.
This approach was attempted here : https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/
861874/

- Have more robust functions in the core.
This might be needed anyway for stable versions.

This patch fixes the flow dissection issue.

When an FDB entry is configured, the address is validated to have the
length of an Ethernet address, but the device for which the address is
configured can be of any type.

The above can result in the use of uninitialized memory when the address
is later compared against existing addresses since 'dev->addr_len' is
used and it may be greater than ETH_ALEN, as with ip6tnl devices.

Fix this by making sure that FDB entries are only configured for
Ethernet devices.

Increase kasan instrumented kernel stack size from 32k to 64k. Other
architectures seems to get away with just doubling kernel stack size under
kasan, but on s390 this appears to be not enough due to bigger frame size.
The particular pain point is kasan inlined checks (CONFIG_KASAN_INLINE
vs CONFIG_KASAN_OUTLINE). With inlined checks one particular case hitting
stack overflow is fs sync on xfs filesystem:

DMA api debug brings to light leaking dma-mappings, dma_map_sg and
dma_unmap_sg are not correctly balanced.

If a request is prepared, the dma_map/unmap are done in asynchronous call
pre_req (prep_data) and post_req (unprep_data). In this case the
dma-mapping is right balanced.

But if the request was not prepared, the data->host_cookie is define to
zero and the dma_map/unmap must be done in the request. The dma_map is
called by mmci_dma_start (prep_data), but there is no dma_unmap in this
case.

This patch adds dma_unmap_sg when the dma is finalized and the data cookie
is zero (request not prepared).

Fix BPF_CORE_READ_BITFIELD() macro used for reading CO-RE-relocatable
bitfields. Missing breaks in a switch caused 8-byte reads always. This can
confuse libbpf because it does strict checks that memory load size corresponds
to the original size of the field, which in this case quite often would be
wrong.

After fixing that, we run into another problem, which quite subtle, so worth
documenting here. The issue is in Clang optimization and CO-RE relocation
interactions. Without that asm volatile construct (also known as
barrier_var()), Clang will re-order BYTE_OFFSET and BYTE_SIZE relocations and
will apply BYTE_OFFSET 4 times for each switch case arm. This will result in
the same error from libbpf about mismatch of memory load size and original
field size. I.e., if we were reading u32, we'd still have *(u8 *), *(u16 *),
*(u32 *), and *(u64 *) memory loads, three of which will fail. Using
barrier_var() forces Clang to apply BYTE_OFFSET relocation first (and once) to
calculate p, after which value of p is used without relocation in each of
switch case arms, doing appropiately-sized memory load.

Here's the list of relevant relocations and pieces of generated BPF code
before and after this patch for test_core_reloc_bitfields_direct selftests.

Without that asm volatile construct (also known as
barrier_var()), Clang will re-order BYTE_OFFSET and BYTE_SIZE relocations and
will apply BYTE_OFFSET 4 times for each switch case arm. This will result in
the same error from libbpf about mismatch of memory load size and original
field size. I.e., if we were reading u32, we'd still have *(u8 *), *(u16 *),
*(u32 *), and *(u64 *) memory loads, three of which will fail. Using
barrier_var() forces Clang to apply BYTE_OFFSET relocation first (and once) to
calculate p, after which value of p is used without relocation in each of
switch case arms, doing appropiately-sized memory load.

indicating that the UML function openpty_cb() calls openpty(),
which internally calls __getgrnam_r(), which causes the nsswitch
machinery to get started.

This loads, through lots of indirection that I snipped, the
libcom_err.so.2 library, which (in an unknown function, "??")
calls sem_init().

Now, of course it wants to get libpthread's sem_init(), since
it's linked against libpthread. However, the dynamic linker
looks up that symbol against the binary first, and gets the
kernel's sem_init().

Hajime Tazaki noted that "objcopy -L" can localize a symbol,
so the dynamic linker wouldn't do the lookup this way. I tried,
but for some reason that didn't seem to work.

Doing the same thing in the linker script instead does seem to
work, though I cannot entirely explain - it *also* works if I
just add "VERSION { { global: *; }; }" instead, indicating that
something else is happening that I don't really understand. It
may be that explicitly doing that marks them with some kind of
empty version, and that's different from the default.

Explicitly marking them with a version breaks kallsyms, so that
doesn't seem to be possible.

Marking all the symbols as local seems correct, and does seem
to address the issue, so do that. Also do it for static link,
nsswitch libraries could still be loaded there.

When an alernate RNIC is available in system, SMC will try to add a new
link based on the RNIC for resilience. All the RMBs in use will be mapped
to the new link. Then the RMBs' MRs corresponding to the new link will
be filled into LLC messages. For SMCRv1, they are ADD LINK CONT messages.

However smc_llc_add_link_cont() may mistakenly access to unused RMBs which
haven't been mapped to the new link and have no valid MRs, thus causing a
crash. So this patch fixes it.
