## Additional Information
<!-- Any other information about this PR, such as a link to a Discord

Work regarding this PR took getting in contact with multiple maintainers
of the mentioned gemfiles and either making updates myself or requesting
them. After reaching out to the maintainers for github_api and several
months passing with no response, it seems as though this gem has been
abandoned. I took it upon myself to make the simple changes to the repo
and have the now updated version hosted on rubygems under
[github_api2](https://rubygems.org/gems/github_api2). This gem is now
being used in place of github_api.

[Mermaid](https://mermaid.js.org/) is a popular tool to embed diagrams
in a webpage. It's even supported here in GitHub:
```mermaid
---
title: Example Git diagram
---
gitGraph
   commit
   commit
   branch develop
   checkout develop
   commit
   commit
   checkout main
   merge develop
   commit
   commit
```
Per this
[Issue](TheOdinProject/curriculum#24617) on
the curriculum repo, I thought it would be nice to support this feature
on Odin. The above chart can be used to demonstrate git branching
concepts. They also have [class
diagrams](https://mermaid.js.org/syntax/classDiagram.html), [entity
relationship
diagrams](https://mermaid.js.org/syntax/entityRelationshipDiagram.html),
[sequence diagrams](https://mermaid.js.org/syntax/sequenceDiagram.html),
and more. I feel these visual tools can give maintainers and
contributors more options when explaining a concept in the lessons.

## This PR
<!-- A bullet point list of one or more items describing the specific
changes. -->
- Adds `mermaid` as a JavaScript dependency
- Runs `mermaid.initialize()` in `app/javascript/application.js` to get
the proper rendering of mermaid diagram sections within Lessons'
rendered HTML.
- Runs the asynchronous `mermaid.run()` in the `LessonPreview` react
component in order to provide mermaid rendering in the Lesson previews.

#### How to Use
The Lesson Preview is probably the easiest way to try it out. Visit the
[mermaid docs](https://mermaid.js.org/intro/) to learn the syntax of
different diagram types. Then you can visit Lesson Preview and try:
```md
<pre class="mermaid">
  <mermaid_code>
</pre>
```
You can also see it on an actual Lesson page by altering the body
content of a lesson, just be sure to surround the added content in
`<pre>` tags with a `class="mermaid"`, as that is specifically what
`mermaid` is looking for. There are ways to alter which element(s) it
targets ([docs on
that](https://mermaid.js.org/config/usage.html#using-mermaid-run)), and
I'm certainly interested if there's anything people think would be
better than the default regarding that.
#### Color Theme
I just stuck with mermaid's provided dark theme as I think it looks
pretty good with Odin's light and dark modes. Here are a couple of
screenshots of what the example git diagram looks like in a lesson
context:

Dark mode:

![228610360-1834a800-6c6d-425c-81f5-8935f387792a](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/88392688/228725382-45e37eaf-b360-44b5-b16b-d6e904fbdb70.png)

Light mode:

Definitely willing to accept other ideas on this. They do have a
[system](https://mermaid.js.org/config/theming.html#customizing-themes-with-themevariables)
in place for making custom themes.

## Because
<!-- Summarize the purpose or reasons for this PR, e.g. what problem it
solves or what benefit it provides. -->
This pull request fixes the page overflow issue on The Odin Project's
project_submissions page. Currently, when users click on the "View full
list of solutions" link on any project page ( eg. [View full list of
solutions](https://www.theodinproject.com/lessons/596/project_submissions)
), the resulting page layout is broken on mobile devices and smaller
screen sizes. The issue is caused by two main problems: the hint--top
class from the Hint.css library and the pagination's fixed width as
shown below with some screenshots.

1. The hint--top class from Hint.css library was contributing to the
page overflow. Below is a screenshot to demostrate my claim.

#### Bug: Overflow due to hint--top class from Hint.css library -

2. The pagination is not responsive and also results to page overflow.
Below is the screenshot.

After fixing the above below are the screenshot of the results;

1. Change hint--top class to hint--top-left.

#### Fix - Screenshot

2. Add overflow-x: auto; rule to nav pagination container. This makes
pagination nav links scrollable on smaller devices.

#### Fix - Screenshot

## Because
- Currently we use two different ways of handling errors: a complex
custom handler that really is just matching it to a specific controller,
and static error pages. We can handle errors more cleanly and uniformly
by switching all error pages to instead use Rails route based handling,
which lets us map `/STATUS_CODE` requests to specific controller actions

## This PR
- Switches our error handling method to routes
- adds routes in `routes.rb` for `422` and `500`
- adds a controller and rewrites `ErrorsController` to handle these:
`ErrorsController` handles `500` and `422` and `NotFoundController`
handles `404`
- I chose this approach because it enables us to separate `500` and
`422` from the application logic, while `NotFoundController` still
inherits from `ApplicationController`, and therefore gets to keep the
nice default TOP layout, as its much more likely to be encountered
- adds tests for checking that each of the error pages return the
correct status code (and ergo work), and an additional test to check
that `500` actually returns our custom page and not just the fallback
page.
- drops the now unnecessary `/public/500.html`, `/public/422`, and
`/lib/custom_public_exceptions` files

## Because
<!-- Summarize the purpose or reasons for this PR, e.g. what problem it

When running lighthouse it points out that the h_x_ ordering isn't quite
right, hence header hierarchy needs to be fixed. This PR would provide a
well-structured heading hierarchy which would not only help search
engines, but also improves the readability and user experience, also
fixing the h_x_ ordering.

## This PR
<!-- A bullet point list of one or more items describing the specific

Both "How it works" and "Learn everything you need to know" are h2, but
the items under those headers are all h4. They should be h3, to make the
hierarchy work.

## Because
<!-- Summarize the purpose or reasons for this PR, e.g. what problem it

Some images like course badges, illustrative images, and user avatars
have `alt` not optimized for a11z.

## This PR
<!-- A bullet point list of one or more items describing the specific
changes. -->

1. For **Course Badge** images, their `alt="Ruby"` is changed to its
course's name since these images are inside of links.
2. Except for the **flexbox of course badges** on landing page, their
`alt=""` is set to empty since their siblings are headers with course
names and their parents are links. Setting `alt` to course names would
result in screen readers reading duplicate names.
3. For some **illustrative images**, their `alt=""` is set to empty
since they are purely decorative and images are not conveying any
meaningful messages because they have texts beside them.
4. **Users' avatars** under success stories now have `alt=""` because
again they are accompanied by users' names as links and the images are
just photographs of these users.

## Because
<!-- Summarize the purpose or reasons for this PR, e.g. what problem it

`.anchor-link`'s flex property was causing rendering issues with `<em>`
children as per
TheOdinProject/curriculum#27831.
Only just discovered as #4507 let level 4 headings generate `>
.anchor-link` and that sole heading was the only occurrence of having a
child tag splitting up the text content.

Flex is no longer needed for `.anchor-link` (those headings are the only
things that currently use the class).

## This PR
<!-- A bullet point list of one or more items describing the specific

- Removes flex-related properties from `.anchor-link`
- Positions `.anchor-link:hover::before` due to lack of flexbox

A user might get confused about the current behavior of the "Resume"

## This PR

Helps to differentiate a selected path from the rest by:
- Adding a "Selected" badge to the currently selected path.
- Keeping only one "Continue" button instead of "Resume" and "View"
buttons to selected path.

<!-- Summarize the purpose or reasons for this PR, e.g. what problem it

It would be good to see when a lesson was last updated and go directly
to the lesson's commit history to see the changelog, directly from the
lesson page itself. This should help alleviate some confusion when
something in the lesson changes when someone is midway through - they'll
now be able to see that it was changed and find out what the change was,
without having to go to GitHub of their own accord and navigate through
the files to find out.

## This PR
<!-- A bullet point list of one or more items describing the specific
changes. -->
- Adds a github commit url helper method
- Adds a link to the GitHub lesson links at the end of a lesson page,
showing the time of last update, and linking to that lesson's commit
history.
